Silver City Warrant Checks
Begin with the court name printed on your citation. Call Silver City Municipal Court at 575-388-4504 and ask about the citation, your response, any payment, an FTA, or a bench-warrant entry. For a Grant County state case, Magistrate Division I takes the call at 575-538-3811. New Mexico Case Lookup may help you find the state docket, but it is not a live warrant certificate.
- Keep the citation, case number, and court date at hand.
- Call Silver City Municipal Court when the citation names the city court.
- Call Magistrate I when the paper names the state court.
- Ask what payment, appearance, motion, or recall step is required.
- Use Silver City Police or central dispatch only for routing and safety questions.
Silver City Police posts no public warrant portal or roster. Ask the clerk of the issuing court instead.
Silver City Summons Warning
The Silver City Municipal Court page carries a plain warning: fail to respond to a summons and a warrant will be issued. Judge Mark L. VanBuskirk presides, the court lists weekday hours, and it accepts telephone card payment as well as courthouse payment. Be ready for a metal detector at the door, plus limits on weapons and recording devices. That warning makes the summons response date the first thing to check. Ask the clerk whether your case needs payment, a new setting, a judge appearance, or a motion. A receipt alone does not prove a warrant was recalled. Confirm that step with the clerk in Silver City before assuming the matter is closed.

The court image connects the local response rule to the correct office.
Policing and Courts in Silver City
Silver City Police sits at 1011 N. Hudson, reachable at 575-538-3723, and central dispatch answers at 575-388-8840. Municipal Court is at 215 N. Bullard, phone 575-388-4504. The police can make an arrest or route a service question, while the municipal court issues and recalls its own local orders. The Silver City Police source gives the official police and dispatch detail. District Court at 201 N. Cooper and Magistrate I at 214 N. Black sit nearby but are separate offices. A state case does not belong at the municipal counter. Read the citation, confirm which court holds the record, and call that clerk.

The civic frame supports the distinction between city services and court custody.
Three Silver City Court Levels
Silver City runs three court levels: its municipal court, Grant Magistrate Division I, and the Sixth Judicial District Court. Their records are not merged by place name, so one warrant check never covers all three.
| Court | Typical Silver City matter | Contact |
|---|---|---|
| Municipal Court | City ordinances, petty misdemeanors, DWI or DUI, municipal traffic | 575-388-4504 |
| Magistrate I | State misdemeanor, DWI, traffic, preliminary hearing | 575-538-3811 |
| District Court | Felony and general criminal cases | 575-538-3250 |
Check the court named on the summons before anything else. Sharing a town does not give Silver City one warrant system.
Types of Silver City Warrants
A Silver City warrant can take several forms. A municipal traffic warrant, an ordinance-related bench warrant, or a city-court FTA order all come from the municipal court. A state arrest or bench warrant comes instead from Magistrate I or District Court. Whoever issued the order holds the file, sets the bond, and decides how it gets recalled.
| Type | Local trigger | Issuing court |
|---|---|---|
| Municipal traffic | Missed city citation response or setting | Silver City Municipal Court |
| Ordinance warrant | Unresolved city-code matter | Silver City Municipal Court |
| City bench warrant | FTA or other municipal noncompliance | Municipal judge |
| State warrant | State criminal or magistrate case | Magistrate I or District Court |
Do not substitute a city label for the court named on the case.
215 N. Bullard or 201 N. Cooper?
Two addresses answer two different questions. 215 N. Bullard is Silver City Municipal Court. 201 N. Cooper is the Grant County District Court. Magistrate I sits at 214 N. Black. Before you drive anywhere, confirm the court and its address, because an older county directory lists a different Magistrate I address. Use the current Sixth District contact page and the city's municipal-court page. One phone call keeps a municipal citation from landing at the district clerk, or a district case from being sent downtown.
What a Silver City Warrant Record Shows
A city warrant record may list the municipal court, a case or citation number, the charge, an appearance date, an FTA or warrant event, payment or bond instructions, and any later recall or removal. Silver City publishes no official warrant-number format, so treat any sample number you see elsewhere with care.
| Court | Silver City Municipal Court or the state court named on the citation. |
|---|---|
| Case or citation | The clerk’s identifier for the local matter. |
| Trigger | Summons nonresponse, FTA, nonpayment after order, or another court event. |
| Payment | A financial event that may be separate from recall or removal. |
| Status | Must be confirmed by the issuing clerk. |
Work from a blank record or a focused written request. Never copy a completed person's form.
Silver City Records Form
Silver City's public-record request form offers a department selector covering Municipal Court, Police, and Unknown. You can make a specific request, inspect records with the custodian, sign electronically, choose optional email delivery, and submit. Fees run $0.25 per page and $0.50 for copies larger than 11 by 17 inches. Use it to seek an existing warrant, docket, payment receipt, recall order, or policy record. It is not a live lookup. Name the court or police department, the case or citation number, the record type, and a date range. Originals stay put, and the form describes a five-business-day pickup rule after notice. The Silver City public-record form is the city's official request channel.

The blank form shows a records route, not instant warrant clearance.
Payment Versus Recall in Silver City
A telephone card payment or courthouse payment may satisfy what you owe. It does not finish the warrant question. The court must still say whether a bench warrant needs a judge, a motion, a new appearance, or a separate removal entry.
Ask before payment: Confirm the citation, the amount category, the accepted channel, and what record will show recall or clearance.
Only Silver City Municipal Court can recall or quash its own warrant. Police, dispatch, and the county jail play different roles. If the citation names Magistrate I, take it to that court.
Silver City and Grant County
City flow is simple: Silver City Municipal Court or Police › Grant County routing and service › the issuing court’s record. A city warrant does not automatically become a District Court warrant. For countywide court levels, state access limits, and the sheriff fallback, route to Grant County warrant records.
County and state detail matters only for spotting the right office. For a Silver City citation, the municipal clerk is still the first call.
Accessing Silver City Warrant Records
New Mexico IPRA supports inspection, subject to exceptions. A Silver City request through the city form must describe the record with reasonable detail. Juvenile, sealed, protected, and law-enforcement-only material may be limited, and a state-court request belongs in the judicial district where the case was filed.
Access rule: NMSA 14-2-1 et seq. supports public inspection subject to exceptions. Ask for a specific city record under the custodian’s request process.
Call the Silver City municipal clerk for current warrant status. To request a copy, use the city form; filing a public request does not recall a warrant.
Payment, Motion, or Appearance
Call the clerk and ask which step fits your record. Silver City has no single walk-in warrant docket. If turning yourself in or seeing a judge could mean custody, talk to a lawyer first about where to go, what to bring, how release works, and how to prove the warrant is gone. Keep the court's answer apart from police routing and Corrections custody details. A careful warrant check ends when the issuing clerk confirms it.
